MARGETO-O II LAUNCHED
At the blessing of the forty footer (40ft) Rev. Michael DeVerteul of the Roman Catholic Church said that “this is the day the Lord has made”. He told the crowd that the Lord has blessed the owners with the resilience, courage and determination to rebuilding not to be despondent following the lost of the first Margeta-O to Hurricane Emily in 2005. This was followed by the dancing of the cake around the boat to the string band music provided by the local musicians. Then came the time for all hands on deck. After it got to the water the men used a boat which toured it to where she floated at about 1:15 pm with great class and elegance to another loud shout of “Hooray” from the large crowd which had grown significantly. Owner, Cyril “Uncle C” Compton said that he had waited for a very long time to see this day. “She looks beautiful ready to make a clean sweep for the Regatta festival”, he added as he looked at the boat as its glittering image reflected of the blue sea. He added that with the Margeta-O II 40 feet in comparison to Margeto-O I which was 33 feet, places them in a position to win more races. One of his siblings Bernard Compton, who built the boat, said he is extremely pleased with the way Margeta-O II looks on the sea. Like his brother he is confident that the boat will be hard to beat during the series of races for the 2007 Regatta festival.
