“A big success” were the words used to describe the trip to New York by the two member delegation of the Regatta Committee.

Lendore and Leggard returned to the country this weekend after a two-week promotional trip to the Big Apple.

The trip, which was made possible by the Grenada Board of Tourism, was used to enlighten the Carriacouans there on plans for the 2005 40th Anniversary of the festival.

The team was also able to meet with numbers of Media Houses including Condenast Traveller, Travel Week Magazine, Travel Weekly Magazine and New York Travel News with a combined circulation of over 241, 359 copies.

A number of meetings were also held with a number of local groups and organizations, including Carriacou and Petite Martinique 2000 inc; C-PAC; Kayak’s Social Club Inc; L’Esterre Youth in Action, Carriacou United Cricket Club, B-B-H New York and Big Apple Sports club. The clubs also took the opportunity to combine efforts to raise over EC$6,500.00 for the festival. A cheque to the amount was presented to Mr. Leggard by Mr. Wilson David on behalf of the organization.

Both Lendore and Leggard said that with the kind of interest shown it is very much expected that thousands of locals and visitors will be gracing the shores of Carriacou for the 40th Anniversary celebration.

They expressed their thanks to all the groups, organization, individuals and GBT for making the trip a success.
